THE BRIDGE PROJECT
Initiated in 2016 by the Mindful Memorial Foundation, the Bridge Project is a campaign to bridge the gap between warrior and civilian communities. The Bridge Project aims to use the practice of Mindfully Honoring the Fallen as a foundation for facilitating conversation and interaction between these groups. The Bridge Project will proceed by recruiting 50 captains who will create their own local/regional “bridges” in their specific community. Beginning in January 2023, these 50 groups, one from each state, will come together around the central idea of Mindfully Honoring the Fallen. As Mindful Memorial Day 2023 approaches, these groups will help recruit the necessary volunteers to honor all warriors who have fallen post 9/11. On Mindful Memorial Day all veterans and civilians will assemble at Arlington, locally/regionally, and online to successfully complete the mission of honoring all post 9/11 fallen warriors.
To that end, we are looking for members of the civilian community that are either; 1. Adjacent to the warrior community, i.e. friends or family members of warriors. 2. Civilians who are supporters of warriors. 3. Civilians who understand the difficulties of warriors who are transitioning back into the civilian world. We are also looking for veterans who; 1. Have family or friends in both the civilian and warrior communities. 2. Veterans who are themselves making the transition back into the civilian community. 3. Veterans who are suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome (PTSD).
We will provide all materials for you and your group to create your own distinct Bridge Project symbols, thereby taking ownership of Mindfully Honoring the Fallen in your specific community. Once formed, each local Bridge Project will come together in person or virtually over the Mindful Memorial Day 2023 weekend to celebrate the sacrifices of our fallen heroes.
