We Honor Heroes With Mindfulness
The Mindful Memorial Foundation began in 2013 with the mission to honor fallen service members with mindful moments of gratitude. During Memorial Day weekend, we provide opportunities for civilians and veterans to participate in honoring all post 9/11 fallen heroes.
For Memorial Day Weekend in 2014, MMF created the Fallen Heroes Ribbon Wall. On each of the awnings of the Military Women's Memorial, hundreds of yellow ribbons with black cards attached were suspended. Each ribbon represented the life of an American service member lost in theater since 9/11. In addition to illustrating the sheer number of US lives lost during this period of war, this living memorial provided visitors an opportunity to extend a moment of gratitude and mindfulness. Throughout the weekend, each ribbon was carefully cut down and looped to create a lanyard and the name of a service member affixed. With full attention, volunteers would read the individual names aloud and give the lanyard to the guest to take with them, often placing it around the guest’s neck, allowing the card with the fallen soldier's name to stay close to the heart. The goal for every Mindful Memorial Day is that every ribbon is claimed and every post 9/11 fallen warrior is remembered with a Mindful Moment of Gratitude. |

Our Sponsors
Without the help of our generous sponsors, the Mindful Memorial Foundation would not be able to operate year-after-year and continue our mission to Mindfully Honor the Fallen.
Our Partners
Mindful Memorial Foundation along with the Military Women’s Memorial continue the mission by teaming up with veteran service organizations and other gratitude-minded outfits. Together, with our voices united, we have been able to further the mindful program with yoga, performative dance, therapy animals, and honor walks.
